We encourage multiple voices and are particularly concerned with folks getting turned off by the “riot grrrl” label. Riot grrrl, while being a vital movement within punk rock for many people, has a reputation for exclusion. Feminist scholars and punks like Mimi Thi Nguyen, Osa Atoe, Helen Luu (among ex-punks, like Nia King) have brought white privilege within punk rock to the foreground. We strongly encourage POC (people of color) folks involved in DIY feminist music movements to submit their work.

Similarly, we want to encourage trans/queer/genderqueer/ally folks – including transguys and cisguys - to submit their work.

We're all in this together.
